I love my glass of red but when the temperature starts rising up during warmer months, I love to indulge in fruity & fresh cocktails. My favourite alcohol base to use is usually gin so when I came across this Raspberry Rose Fizz recipe that used gin, I knew I had to try it. The recipe asked for rosewater drops but I am not a fan so omitted that part.
1 1/2 oz gin
3/4 oz lemon juice
3/4 oz raspberry syrup
1 1/2 oz sparkling water
Start by making the simple syrup by combining 1/2 cup sugar & 1/2 cup water in a sauce pan until the sugar dissolves. Wait 20 minutes to cool then add 1 cup of fresh raspberries. Use the bottom of a glass to mash the raspberries then strain. The syrup can also be used with just sparkling for a non alcoholic drink.
This is a perfect after work happy hour drink. Happy Thursday!
I love long Weekends. They feel as if your getting one cheat day where you can do nothing and not feel bad at all. That was perfect for me because after a night out for karaoke on Friday night, I needed a buffer day to just stay curled up on the couch Saturday without feeling too guilty.
Sunday was definitely a more productive day working on some new blog posts & finally trying out some trails at Lighthouse Park . The weather could not have been better, we’ve been so lucky in Vancouver recently with rain in the mornings but the sun peeping out around 3 in the afternoon. On that note, I’m going to go enjoy the last few hours of my day off. Happy Monday!
I’m back from a great (And much needed!) Weekend in Tofino. Although the weather was not really cooperative, I could not have asked for a better one. I enjoyed a lot of “first times” such as catching jumbo prawns (And eating them of course) as well as surfing lessons along the coast. On a side note, who knew surfing could be that tiring? My arms are beyond exhausted.
All of that combined with great friends and wine made it a Weekend to remember. It’s bittersweet to be back but I’m looking forward to the rest of the Week to come with a few things i’m pretty excited about ;)
Starting a cold on Friday, I had the great idea of staying out much later than I should have on Friday night which resulted in me spending the rest of the Weekend laying in bed battling a cough and sore throat. Not smart. It was so gorgeous outside too, the kind of weather that makes you love Vancouver even more. So after what seemed like a decade of tea, benadryl & lots of sleep, I made it out for a long walk in Stanley Park on Sunday so I could at least feel like I did something somewhat productive. It’s already back to Monday but I’m so excited because another gf of mine is spending the week! I love friend time.
Nothing makes me happier than pretty Ranunculus in the kitchen.
I’m loving Dainty necklaces that can be layered and worn with every outfit.
Now, this is what Breakfast should look like! I love avocados. Period.
I’m debating doing Wallpaper on a single wall in the bedroom. Yay or Nay?
What are the little things that are currently making you happy?
I might be a tad late to the party, but I’ve finally figured out how to do the washi tape effect on my pictures. Ah well, better late then never right?! You can find a great tutorial here if you would like to try it out yourself. Sooo back to Monday, how is it already here? I spent most of the Weekend cooped up inside alternating between naps, coffee & blog tutorials. Sometimes just relaxing and looking at pretty pictures is all you need to reenergize yourself:
How perfect would this garden party be with all your closest friends?
On my wish list for the Summer: A simple cutout dress
I spent the Weekend with two girlfriends who were in town visiting. I met these girls almost 7 years ago back in Montreal and we spent every Summer being inseparable; So much that when we actually needed to stick with our school schedules come Fall, we would go into mini depression mode. Funny enough, all three of us now live on the West coast of the country and although we don’t see or talk to each other as often as we used to, the second we get together it’s as if we just never left each others sides.
We spent the Weekend trying out new restaurants in Vancouver, shopping and having so much needed good quality girl time! Now time to tackle the week ahead!
I could spend a copious number of hours browsing the Olla Flower Shop in Gastown. Every little nook hides an arrangement more beautiful than the next and since the moment a girlfriend kindly introduced me to this local spot, I’ve been hooked - Meaning I can easily stop in once a week to quietly clear my mind.
So it was only fitting to gather some girlfriends over my birthday Weekend to complete one of Olla’s workshops and we had such an amazing time. This workshop was terrarium building where we hand picked our own plants and vases. I am really looking forward to the next workshop which is floral arrangements on May 5th. Find more info here and pass by if your in the area!
Better late than never I guess! These Weekend shots are long overdue I know, pardon me. I’ve been a bad blogger lately with sporadic posts scattered here and there but it’s been a little busy around here. Please forgive me.
Last Weekend was all about indulging with great food, friends and obviously some good wine. I also got a little hiking walking squeezed into there for the principle of things, you know. Hope you all enjoyed a great Easter long Weekend!
When it comes to makeup, I’m not the one to experiment too much. Although I’d love to be able to rock a bold lipstick, I’m more of a lip balm kinda of girl. In November, I was lucky enough to attend the Spring 2013 product launch for Lise Watier and a few of their products have now become some of my favourite to wear for Spring/Summer. I love this season because your skin feels and looks naturally pretty so less is more!
I haven’t been feeling much like myself lately, as though something has been kind of off. To put things back into perspective I decided to have some “melissa” time over the weekend so I had a little date with myself Friday night, sushi, movie and all. Saturday was spent walking around my neighbourhood snapping pictures which I remembered I hadn’t done in a long time.
Sometimes the best therapies are not expensive and just taking a little time to hang out with yourself is just what you need to get back up again.
